David Vélez, Movement Specialist & Performance Coach

About

More than training. A deeper understanding of movement.

I’m David Vélez, a Movement Specialist focused on biomechanics, physical training, recovery, rehabilitation, and movement re-adaptation.

My approach goes beyond prescribing exercises. I look at how you move, how you adapt, what your body needs, and how we can build capacity with intention.

Movement · Performance · Recovery · Longevity

My work draws on structured coaching experience and an ongoing, evidence-based approach to movement — applied individually, never as a template.

The Problem

You don’t need more exercises. You need the right ones.

More training doesn’t always mean better results. Random workouts, generic programs and constantly pushing harder can leave you stronger in some areas while creating limitations in others. Your body deserves a strategy built around you.

Generic Training

One program. Different bodies.

More Is Not Always Better

Intensity without strategy can become limitation.

Your Body Has Context

Your history, goals, movement, recovery and lifestyle matter.

Philosophy

Movement with purpose.

Every exercise has a reason. Every progression has a purpose. Every adjustment comes from observing how your body responds.

We don’t train movements just because they look good.
We train them because they serve you.

Method

A process built around your body.

01

Assess

Understand your movement, history, limitations and goals.

02

Strategize

Build a personalized plan based on what you actually need.

03

Develop

Build strength, mobility, control, capacity and confidence.

04

Adapt

Your program evolves as your body does.

05

Perform

Move with greater capability in the things that matter to you.

Who It’s For

Coaching for bodies with different goals.

Performance

For athletes and active individuals seeking greater physical capacity.

Movement

For people who want to move better and feel more capable.

Recovery

For those rebuilding movement after pain, injury or physical limitations.

Longevity

For people who want to preserve strength, mobility and independence as they age.

Different goals. Different bodies. One principle: your program should be built around you.

The Difference

There is no “one-size-fits-all” body. So why train with a one-size-fits-all program?

Every client works with me directly, on a plan built for them.

  • Individual movement assessment

  • Personalized programming

  • Exercise selection based on your needs

  • Progressive adaptation

  • Ongoing monitoring

  • Direct coaching

  • Recovery considerations

This isn’t about doing more. It’s about receiving the right kind of attention.

A radius and ulna fracture that turned CrossFit training into something painful and limited.

My Story

Why I became a Movement Specialist

My relationship with sport and movement started long before I had a name for it — years of training on my own, testing what worked, and running into the limits of doing it without a real strategy.

At some point, pushing harder stopped being the answer. I wanted to understand why the body moves the way it does — not just follow a program, but know what each part of it was for. That question is what led me to study movement formally and build the approach I coach with today: observe first, program with intention, and adjust based on what the body actually shows.

That’s still the foundation of every program I build — for performance, recovery, or the simple, long-term goal of staying capable.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Is coaching completely online?

Yes. Every session, assessment and check-in happens by video call, so you can train from anywhere in the world.

Do I need a gym?

It depends on your program. Some plans are built around a full gym, others around minimal home equipment — we design around what you actually have access to.

Do you work with people recovering from injuries?

Yes, within appropriate limits. If your situation requires in-person medical or physical therapy care, I’ll tell you clearly before we start.

How often will we meet?

It depends on the coaching level you apply for. We’ll define frequency together based on your goals and availability.

Do you work with athletes?

Yes — alongside active individuals, people returning from injury, and people focused on long-term movement and longevity.

What time zones do you work with?

I coach clients across multiple time zones and offer flexible scheduling. We’ll find a time that works for both of us.

How much does coaching cost?

Private coaching ranges from $400/month (fully online) to $1,000/month (VIP, with 8 live sessions). We confirm the right plan for you after your assessment call.

Do you accept clients outside the United States?

Yes. Coaching is fully online, so location isn’t a barrier.
